Breast firming lotion is often easily applied formulas designed to tighten up the skin and contribute to overall breast firmness. They often must be applied every day, so individuals should evaluate whether the often high cost of these lotions is worth the sometimes questionable effectiveness of their application.
The Idea behind the Lotions
Most breast firming lotions are based on a number of ingredients that are supposed to help tone and firm up the breasts skin, making it easier for individuals to retain their natural elasticity for a longer period of time. Though a number of the ingredients in these lotions may plump up the skin and affect the collagen production of the breasts, they do not have any effect on the actual fibers and ligaments of the breasts. Still, there might be some effectiveness in using these lotions on a regular basis, due to some of their unique ingredients.
Shea and Cocoa Butter
Shea and cocoa butter are often used as some of the main ingredients in breast firming lotions and creams. This is because both are great sources of Vitamin E and independently improve the elasticity of the skin. Women who are experiencing rapid weight fluctuations or are pregnant are advised to rub shea and cocoa butter into their skin to avoid the appearance of stretch marks. These all-natural butters increase the amount of moisture the skin retains, plumping up the collagen already present, and providing a much more flexible and elastic response in the skin. Using these butters improves circulation and encourages healthier more vibrant skin tone.
Some lotions may contain a special prescription ingredient known as a retinoid. Retinoids are a group of acids that can have extraordinary impact on a number of skin defects and can even inhibit cell growth in breast cancer. They are also extremely effective when it comes to collagen production and the minimization of wrinkles and deep lines in the skin, suggesting that they might be effective at encouraging the skin’s natural elasticity. They must be used on a regular basis however, and they can be quite expensive as they often come only in prescription form.
Important: Pregnant women should avoid using retinoids, though, as they can affect fetal growth and hormonal development.
Technically, the FDA has not validated nor proven the claims of any breast firming lotion. While many of the ingredients inside the lotions are proven to improve the tone and appearance of skin and to minimize the appearance of stretch marks and other losses of elasticity, they cannot restore or even preserve the fibers of the breasts’ skin. They may not be able to completely prevent the advance of ptosis alone. However, when used in conjunction with other methods such as exercise and massage, they may be able to slow this advance, allowing the skin to retain some of its youthful vigor for a few more years.
Breast firming lotions overall are too expensive for the possible effects that they might give. Most of the time, individuals are better off using direct applications of the lotions’ most effective ingredients. However, the convenience of having all of the effective ingredients in one place might be worth the extra price.
